Natural Jewelry Cleaner

Cleaning my ring takes some work since it isn’t a traditional engagement/wedding ring. I have a morganite engagement ring and two milgrain diamond wedding bands, which are all soldered together. Regardless of the type of ring or jewelry that you have, they must be cleaned. Doing so with a natural ring cleaner is a plus.

Why You Should Use a Natural Jewelry Cleaner

Your jewelry sits directly on your skin so cleaning it with non toxic products is a must. (Your skin absorbs up to 60% of what you apply topically) Most jewelers offer free ring cleaning services, but I’d rather do it myself with a natural jewelry cleaner. I don’t want any chemical yuck sitting on my skin. The cleaner that I use actually benefits my skin/me as a whole because it is infused with (the best) essential oils, and it of course gets the job done. My ring always looks just as amazing as the day that my husband proposed to me.

What You Will Need

A splash of warm water

A cup or small container (petri dish etc.)

An old or new toothbrush designated for cleaning your jewelry

½ capful of Thieves Household Cleaner (you can order yours HERE)

Instructions

Add the ½ capful of Thieves cleaner to your cup or dish

Add a splash of warm water (I say warm because hot water alters the constituents of essential oils. Learn more about that HERE)

Drop your ring in and let it sit. I usually leave my ring in there for a solid few hours, while I clean the house or get ready. If you only have a few minutes that’s good enough. The cleaner works just as well if you just dip the tooth brush in and begin scrubbing your ring.

The size of the toothbrush is perfect for getting into all of the crevices of my ring.

…TADA. I’m sure you are amazed at the sparkly beauty that is your ring. 😉 This stuff really does the trick and it does so naturally.

Natural Eyelash Growth Serum

The Scoop

Eyelashes play a big role in your daily get up. I have found that a good mascara and some lip balm can do wonders and change up your whole look from frumpy and tired to a bright eyed natural look.

I have always had fairly long lashes. However, regular use of mascara leaves many lash casualties at the end of me removing my make up and going through my cleansing routine. When I first got started with Young Living one of the first things that I started implementing into my beauty routine was adding lavender to my bottle of mascara. It helps with eyelash nourishment and growth.

Later, I saw an instagram friend (Sweetjamieleejoy) post about her oil infused eyelash serum. This girl has the most beautiful long natural lashes. My interest was immediately piqued. I asked her what the ingredients were and shortly after placed an order for the supplies that I needed (aside from the oils). Once I received my materials I got to work on creating ratios that worked for me. Trial and error of course. Initially the first batch that I created had way too many drops of essential oils because the scent was too strong for my eyes. Second time was a charm!

Supplies + Ingredients:

Young Living’s Cedarwood Essential Oil

Young Living’s Lavender Essential Oil

Young Living’s Rosemary Essential Oil

Empty Mascara Tubes

Castor Oil

*Disclaimer: I only recommend the use of the most pure and natural therapeutic essential oils (Young Living). I am not responsible for any damage created by or caused by use of adulterated essential oils. Oil purity is extremely important as FDA onlyrequires 5-10% of the actual oil in order for an oil to be labeled 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oil. When in fact the rest could be fillers, solvents, chemicals, or otherwise.

Sanitize the mascara tubes and other parts prior to use.

Add two drops of each essential oil to the mascara tube

Fill about ¾ of the tube with castor oil

Add rubber insert and seal with wand/lid

Apply nightly before bed

& ✨✨✨

Important Info

If at any point you get an essential oil in your eye, DO NOT FLUSH WITH WATER.

Water drives the oils, and will in turn intensify the discomfort.

Grab a carrier oil (jojoba oil, castor oil, olive oil, or coconut oil, etc.) and gently put some in your eye. Rest your eyes until discomfort is over.

I would love to see your before and afters!

Travel Essentials

Where

Max and I recently took a trip to Reno in late celebration of our third anniversary (you can read about it HERE!).

What to Pack

I never leave home without my oils bag which usually contains DiGize, Lavender, Peppermint, Lemon, Thieves, Frankincense, Purification,(all of which were just listed come in the Premium Starter Kit!) Breathe Again, Melrose, EndoFlex, JuvaFlex, Valor II, StressAway, and some rollers full of blends that I have made myself.

Here are the other essentials that we pack when we leave town:

Alkalime to keep my pH balanced!

Life 9 to keep my gut happy. The gut is also known as the second brain! It produces 80% of your body’s serotonin. The gut needs all of the good bacteria to stay healthy. This effects your bowels as well.

Super B because every system in your body needs b vitamins.

NingXia Red sachets YL’s superfruit antioxidant puree to support a healthy immune system, healthy blood sugar levels and all over wellness. Since this is a supplement, all you need is 1-2oz per day. We drink this daily and we drink extra when we feel that our bodies need extra support.

OmegaGize my fishy oil supplement! Everyone should be taking a fish oil supplement!

ALL YOUNG LIVING SUPPLEMENTS are grade A quality. Because there are oils infused in our supplements, absorption is increased by up to 80%. While supplements without essential oils are known to be absorbed a measly 15% by the body.

Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier (which I never leave home without) This is not a sanitizer! Which I am sure you have heard, that sanitizers weaken your immune system and create a super germ. NO THANKS. Again this product as with all YL products is OIL INFUSED. I will take it. Any time and any way that I can get oils on and in my body I will because the benefits are incredible.

Lavender Lip Balm (which is seriously life changing. I used to use Burt’s bees and now I am never looking back!) This contains coconut oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, wolfberry seed oil, rose hip seed oil, vitamin e, and lavender essential oil. It’s so light weight compared to other lip balms, the ingredients are safe, and of the highest quality.

Wolfberry Eye Cream because the under eye area is so delicate and deserves some extra attention. I do this as a sort of preventative maintenance. I’m only 25 so there hasn’t been too much going on in this area but I want to support the skin well.

Art Gentle Cleanser a must have. I use this after removing my make up. I have used my own DIY face wash in the past, but after using this cleanser I would rather purchase the product because it leaves my face feeling amazing.

Art Light Moisturizer this moisturizer is perfect because as the name says, it’s light. There is also an intensive moisturizer for those who have skin that is on the dryer side. I have heard great things about the intensive moisturizer as well.

Dentranome Ultra to keep my teeth clean and to keep my underarms odor free (YES I USE MY TOOTHPASTE AS DEODORANT)

Thieves Dental Floss because flossing is vital. 😉

Lavender Bath & Shower Gel because lavender is amazing for the skin and the smell is heavenly.

Dr. Bronner’s Castile Liquid Soap UNSCENTED This is an ingredient in our DIY handsoap so we bring a travel sized bottle with us for washing our hands.

Conquering Toxic Emotions By Rhonda Favano

My trusty sunflower yellow Fjall Raven BackpackThis backpack is lightweight, yet sturdy, and it makes the perfect accessory. I am a satchel and backpack gal so I love to be able to just take my bags along with me without being afraid of roughing them up.

And of course my Mountenz dad hat. Because I am a band wife. My husband is an amazing musician and I am so proud of who he is and what he does. SO I obviously wear their merch.

I’m so thankful that I never have to pull out my trusty Think Dirty App, wonder, or even question what is inside of my Young Living products. I feel at ease knowing that I’m putting not only safe but beneficial ingredients on myself and my family.

Natural Hair Care

Back in the day I used to use things like Redkin, Biosilk, and OGX Moroccan Argan Oil. These are the types of products that most women use daily.

These things are filled with tons of chemicals the main offender often times being synthetic FRAGRANCE. I mention fragrance a lot because our sense of smell leads to a part of our brain called the limbic system. Anytime you are around a product that includes the ingredient(s) “fragrance”, “parfum”, or “perfume” you are breathing in loads of unidentified toxic chemicals. Companies are protected by trade laws and are not required to disclose the thousands of chemicals that they use to create certain scents. You not only breathe these scents in but they reach your brain.

I’m not writing these things to bash other companies, I do this for YOU, for my mom, my sister, my mother in law, all of the people that I love.

I am very passionate about educating people. I want to see less infirmities and more people living above the wellness line.

My vision for my Young Living business is to empower people to make educated decisions for themselves.

As with most of Young Living’s products the Mirah Shave Oil is multi-use. I began using it as a hair serum recently and it has worked wonders on my hair.

Personally I have very thick, course, wavy hair which equates to frizz. This product is not only great for the texture and overall health of my hair, it also smells heavenly.

I’m now able to brush my hair out when it’s wet without my hair turning into a tumbleweed.

Prior to using Mirah I was using jojoba oil. It was okay. After using Mirah as a serum I am never going back.

People also use Mirah as a facial moisturizer and of course as shave oil. I’m sure that there are many other uses for it.

You can purchase Mirah by clicking HERE

If you need help with your purchase you can email me at:

For added hair support and a good mid-week post shower pick me up I add a few drops of Lavender, Cedarwood, and Rosemary essential oils to a spray bottle and add water. I spray this on my hair and scalp throughout the week.

Here are some things to keep in mind when trying to figure out what to use as a heat protectant:

You always want to make sure that the smoke point (the point at which the oil begins to burn) is at minimum 350 degrees.

Unrefined oils carry the most nutrients when it comes to natural fatty oils. These nutrients will do wonders conditioning and protecting your hair.

Refined oils on the other hand will have a higher smoke point but will contain less nutrients than unrefined.

Almond Oil does well to those with thick coarse hair (like ME!!) It’s smoke point is 430 degrees. It contains the vitamins E, D, B1, B2, B6, and A.

Avocado Oil is obviously full of healthy fats! The smoke point of this oil is 520 degrees! It naturally contains properties similar to those of sunscreen so it will not only protect your hair from heat but also UVA and UVB rays.

Coconut Oil is probably the most popular oil at the moment. The smoke point of coconut oil is 350 degrees. Add this to the list of things that coconut oil is good for. In addition coconut oil is also anti-dandruff and promotes hair growth.

Grape seed oil has the high smoke point of 420 degrees which is ideal for those who like to use heat styling tools at high temperatures.

Jojoba Oil is one of my favorite oils. I use this for many things. The smoke point for this oil is 383 degrees. Although it is known as an oil, it’s actually a liquid plant wax and has had many uses throughout the years. Because Jojoba is an emollient, it soothes the skin and unclogs hair follicles. I like to add a bit to my hair right after it’s washed. Jojoba oil contains beneficial ingredients, including vitamin E, vitamin B complex, silicon, chromium, copper and zinc. It has a very high percentage of iodine at 82 percent, which gives jojoba oil its power to heal. It contains three fatty acids: erucic (13.6 percent), gadoleic (71.3 percent) and oleic (11.2 percent).

Shea Butter works great as a heat protectant because it naturally has thermal conductivity. Because of the its thermal conductivity it is a natural replacement for the use of silicones found and used in most heat protectants. Dimethicone and cyclomethicone are used most widely in silicones found in heat protectants. Silicone coats strands with a protective layer that is difficult for heat from a heated styling tool to penetrate.

The 5 Essential Oils That Every Mama Needs

This list was taken from the Young Living website.

As you probably know, I am not a mother. I am however the oldest of seven children so I have seen my fair share of childhood in my life. This list was compiled by Young Living.

Motherhood is beautiful. From baby’s birth to first steps, first days of school and college graduation there are so many sweet moments throughout. Then there are the moments when things get real waking up every two hours for feeding, teething, and tantrums. Thankfully we have oils to support you through every step of the way.

Here are the five Essential Oils that every mama should have in her arsenal.

Stress Away

I love to use this oil topically. Diffusing or inhaling it directly is also great. Stress Away helps me unwind and get refocused when moments are trying or while commuting because…traffic. This blend contains Copaiba, Lime, Lavender, Cedarwood, and Vanilla. It is a sweet, woodsy, and floral scent that is both relaxing and grounding.

Peppermint essential oil is one of the most versatile + popular essential oils.  We use this one daily in our household. It has a cool, tingling sensation that’s great for post-workout massages and throughout-the-day pick-me-ups.

Lavender is likely the most well-known oil around. When you think of Lavender you probably think of calming and relaxation. YES. Another oil that is used daily in our home. Adults and children alike gravitate toward Lavender. & rightly so this oil is known as the Swiss army knife of essential oils.

Peace & Calming is very popular in the Young Living world. People go crazy for this one (especially mamas of littles) and I didn’t understand why until I got my hands on my own bottle. Add it to a bath or diffuse while reading to your babes all will enjoy the calming effects of this blend. IT SMELLS AMAZING.

Thieves essential oil is another staple in our home. Its ability to tackle nearly any situation makes it a mom’s best friend. It includes oils like Lemon and Clove, which don’t just smell wonderful—they work hard to cut everyday messes too. You’ll love how easy Thieves makes it to replace conventional cleaners with naturally derived, yet powerful, solutions. Use options like Thieves Dish Soap, Thieves Household Cleaner, and Thieves Wipes or create DIY cleaners with the added strength of Thieves. You’ll feel confident your children will be safe from not just dirt and grime but harsh chemicals as well. Thieves also supports a healthy immune system. (& it smells like Christmas!!!!!!!!)

How to use Essential Oils

Hello essential oil users, oil curious, and those who have no idea what essential oils are.

Welcome welcome.

What are Essential Oils?

Essential Oils are the most powerful part of the plant.

They are distilled from:

  • Shrubs
  • Flowers
  • Trees
  • Roots
  • Bushes
  • Fruit
  • Resins
  • Herbs

Oils consist of over 100 natural organic compounds.

Oils support every system in the human body:

  • Skeletal System
  • Muscular System
  • Circulatory System
  • Endocrine System
  • Respiratory System
  • Immune System

Hormones, Brain Health, Emotions, Spiritual Support, & Stress.

ONLY Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils are capable of supporting the human body in said ways.

I only use and recommend the best essential oils on the planet… Young Living.

  • Studies have shown that oils reach the heart, liver, and thyroid in 3 seconds when inhaled.
  • Oils were found in the bloodstream in 26 seconds when applied topically.
  • Expulsion of essential oils takes place in 3-6 hours in a normal healthy body.

There are three ways to use essential oils:

Aromatically through using our sense of smell. Our sense of smell is linked directly to the amygdala which is the seat of our emotions. This is why smells have such power over us. Have you ever been taking back to a childhood memory by a certain smell? This can be done by

smelling the oil directly from the bottle

putting a few drops in your hand, rubbing hands together, then cupping over the nose

through diffusing the oils

Ingestion or “internally”

oils can be taken in a vegetable capsule

added to recipes when cooking

and added to water (for flavor and a plethora of other benefits).

Topically

You may or may not choose to use a carrier oil when applying oils topically. I rarely ever do. Not using a carrier oil is called using oils “neat”. A carrier oil is a fatty oil like avocado oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, almond oil and the like. The only time I really use carrier oils is when I create a roller blend. If you are new to using oils or have sensitive skin then I suggest you use a carrier oil. (I personally never used carriers even when I first started using oils)

Again, I only recommend use of Young Living’s essential oils because they are the absolute best. We own our own farms and have strict Seed to Seal guidelines for our partner farms, we run the most tests on our products, D. Gary Young (the founder of YL) is the only one in the world who distills oils at their best/highest frequency, we use sustainable and organic farming methods, and we never use chemicals to distill our oils we cold press and steam distill (which takes more time and obviously costs more money).

The FDA only requires that companies have 5% of the actual oil in their product in order for it to be labeled 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade. The rest can be chemicals, floral water, or carrier oils. This on top of the use of fertilizers, pesticides, and chemical solvents to extract the oil makes for a chemical soup of “essential oil” which in my opinion is extremely contradicting considering what oils are used for.

THAT IS WHY SEED TO SEAL. This is why it is so important to buy real oils. You never want to cut corners when at comes to wellness. You deserve the best.

My hope is that you have learned something new today or received some clarity.

Take care, you deserve it.

DIY Essential Oil Infused Face Wash

Finding a safe face wash can be challenging and expensive.

Learn how to create your own toxin free essential oil infused facial cleanser.

It’s not enough to remove your make up. You should also be cleansing your skin. Guilty. I don’t always use a facial cleanser after removing my make up. Most nights I feel accomplished if the dishes are done, my make up is removed and my teeth are brushed.

This foaming face wash is simple to make and convenient to use.

Here is what you’ll need:

A foaming hand soap dispenser that holds at least 8oz of liquid. (I reuse my Thieves Foaming Hand Soap dispensers)

3 oz Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Liquid Soap – Baby Unscented, 32oz.

30 Drops of the skin supporting Essential Oils of your choice – I only recommend the use of Young Living’s Essential Oils. Order your Young Living Oils HERE. I like to use Lavender and Frankincense.

1/3 cup of Distilled Water

1/2 Tsp of Witch Hazel

Combine all ingredients in soap dispenser, fasten lid, and shake.

Use 1-2 pumps per wash!

Let me know what your thoughts are.

xx Bobbie

DIY Essential Oil Infused Leave in Conditioner

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon of Young Living’s Copaiba Vanilla Moisturizing Conditioner

3 drops of Young Living’s Lavender Essential Oil (Learn why I ONLY recommend Young Living’s Oils)

Distilled Water

Tools:

Measuring spoons

2oz Amber Glass Spray bottle

Pour your conditioner into the bottle

Add your Lavender EO

Fill the rest with water

&

SHAKE

I like to give the recipe and instructions prior to me writing my own experiences or purposes. Something that bothers me to no end is looking up a recipe only to find an essay before I’m able to get the recipe.

So I’ll spare you.

This recipe is great for people with hair. It keeps your hair moisturized and smelling great without having to worry about synthetic fragrances or other nasty chemicals found in conventional products. Oh yeah, it’s also Essential Oil infused. These aren’t just any oils, they are true therapeutic grade. Young Living’s founder D. Gary Young actually coined that term “100% pure therapeutic grade”.

Enjoy & Leave Some Feedback.

DIY Essential Oil Dry Shampoo

If you are anything like me then you don’t wash your hair every day. I’m not on a particular schedule per say. I just go as long as I can until my hair gets too gross.

This Dry Shampoo will tide you over in between washes! It absorbs well and it smells amazing, plus it’s essential oil infused. Any time that oils have contact with you, you’re receiving some amazing support.

The only essential oils that I recommend are Young Living’s Essential oils. They have a Seed to Seal promise. The human’s sense of smell is unlike any other sense. The things that we smell reach the limbic system of our brains. The limbic system is the seat of the emotions. Therefore I only use the best oils on the market. Young Living has been around for over 20 years and owns their own farms and has partner farms all over the world. Their farms have very specific guidelines and standards. Learn more about that HERE.

For this recipe I used Cedarwood and Bergamot Essential oils.

Ingredients & Supplies

Young Living’s Bergamot Essential Oil

Young Living’s Cedarwood Essential Oil

-Arrowroot Powder (is what I used) or Corn Starch

If you have dark hair you can use cocoa powder instead of a white base. My hair is really dark but the arrowroot powder is so fine that the white isn’t noticeable.

-An empty spice bottle that has the shaker top. (I usually save my empties so I had mine on hand) You could also use a small canning jar and puncture holes in the lid. (If you puncture holes in the lid you won’t be able to carry this around in your purse, unless you bring the punctured top and a normal top.)

Fill your container about 3/4 of the way with your arrowroot powder or cornstarch

add 5 drops of Bergamot

add 2 drops of Cedarwood

and

SHAKE it like a salt shaker. (Real dang hard).

That is all.
